Frequently Asked Questions
At Providence Healthcare of Georgia (PHG), we follow OSHA guidelines to ensure the safety of both our caregivers and patients. A single caregiver is allowed to lift a maximum of 50 pounds. If a patient exceeds this weight, a two-person assist or a mechanical lift is required to ensure safe and proper handling.
If your loved one weighs more than 50 pounds and does not have a mechanical device or an additional caregiver available, please contact your clinical supervisor to discuss the best care options.
Yes, under the COMP/NOW waiver program, patients can receive both nursing services and personal care support services simultaneously. These services are allowed to overlap to ensure comprehensive care based on the patient’s total care needs. If you have any questions about eligibility or service coordination, our team at Providence Healthcare of Georgia is here to assist you.

Yes, it is very important to notify PHG if any of your contact details change. Please call our office during business hours (9 AM – 5 PM) and speak with your Scheduler to update your information. Keeping your records up to date ensures that your services are not interrupted.
Nursing notes are critical clinical documentation that Medicaid and other insurers review when renewing a patient’s authorization. Reviewing and signing the notes allows you to:
- Verify the caregiver’s recorded time in and time out.
- Review the care provided that day.
- Ensure that caregivers are following the Plan of Treatment (POT).
If you do not agree with any clinical assessments completed by the caregiver, please contact your Clinical Supervisor immediately.
A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides unskilled care and support, including:
- Personal care assistance (bathing, grooming, toileting, etc.).
- Monitoring intake and output, as well as recording vital signs.
- Assisting with patient positioning and mobility.
- Keeping patient rooms clean and stocked.
- Assisting with food preparation and meal support. CNAs are NOT allowed to:
- Perform any skilled care (e.g., G-tube feeding, trach care, CVL care).
- Administer medication. CNAs may assist with self-administration but cannot open bottles or handle medications directly.
We understand that home healthcare professionals deserve respect and appreciation. PHG offers:
- Competitive pay and benefits.
- Incentive programs and paid time off.
- A supportive work environment where caregivers feel valued.
This approach has resulted in a caregiver retention rate far exceeding the industry average.
Our office is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM – 5 PM. Outside of business hours, our on-call service is available for urgent issues, such as:
- A caregiver not showing up for a scheduled shift.
- A patient being admitted to the emergency room (so we can notify caregivers and update insurance records).
- An unforeseen schedule change within the next 24 hours.
- Urgent clinical concerns that cannot wait until regular business hours.
If the patient depends on equipment that requires electricity, make sure the battery is fully charged in advance. If power remains out for an extended period, transport the patient to the nearest emergency room for care.
The Plan of Treatment (POT) is an individualized care plan created by PHG based on:
- Physician’s orders
- Hospital discharges
- Clinical history
The POT outlines treatment goals, interventions, and progress tracking for each patient. It is reviewed and updated every 60 days or as needed.
Each patient is provided with a tablet for secure electronic charting. Caregivers may also use their personal devices to log into PHG’s secure EMR (Electronic Medical Records) system. All documentation is securely stored, and personal use of company tablets is not permitted.
Yes! We welcome referrals. If you know a qualified Nurse or CNA, please contact our office directly or visit our website for more details.
If you have spoken with your Scheduler or Clinical Supervisor but feel your issue is unresolved, you can escalate your concern by contacting our Director of Operations or Clinical Manager.
If you are not satisfied with your current caregiver, please contact your Scheduler during normal business hours to discuss your concerns. We will work with you to find a suitable resolution.
To request a schedule change, call our office during business hours and speak with your Scheduler.
If you need to cancel a shift, please provide as much notice as possible so we can adjust schedules accordingly.
Additional hours must be approved by PHG before work begins. Approval depends on Medicaid authorization or insurance allowances.
Once a PHG caregiver submits electronic nursing notes for services provided, PHG verifies the documentation and submits it for billing. We will never bill for services without proper documentation.
